Comfort Beyond Belief

Comfort Beyond Belief

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46: 1-3 NIV).

Earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. As fearful as nature can be, there are situations in life that tower over us, creating long foreboding shadows. Disease may destroy our bodies; kids may disappoint us and break our hearts; people in the church may disillusion us; business setbacks may ruin us financially.

King David, identified with our human feelings of fear; he nailed it: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging… (Psalm 46:1-3 NIV). Do you want a place to run and find comfort? Run to God.

Suffering provides space for self-review and gives us opportunity to totally depend on Him. Be content and focus on His plans rather than on your situation. Suffering causes a true believer to look to God rather than to himself. There is nothing compared to the love by which He comforts us, no freedom like the freedom to trust Him; and no confidence like the confidence to trust in Him.
He is your safe sanctuary.
